Dental Implants
Dr. Zabek has been helping patients with dental implants for more than 20 years.
Permanent replacements that look and feel like your natural teeth
San Francisco dentist Dr. Gregory Zabek has been doing dental implant restorations for more than 20 years. Implant dentistry is a procedure that anchors a new replacement tooth to a surgically-placed titanium post. Patients with missing teeth will find themselves able to smile and eat normally again.
Dental implants can be used to replace individual missing teeth, or to support dentures and give them additional support in your mouth. Not everyone is a candidate for dental implants, but for those who are, the advantages in terms of comfort and lifestyle are tremendous.
Because implantology is such an important innovation in dentistry, Dr. Zabek makes certain that he stays current on all of the latest technological advance by attending bi-monthly conferences on the subject. He partners with an excellent oral surgeon, and will design and plan your implant procedure from start to finish.
If you need dental implants, or think that you might, now is the perfect time to come in for a complimentary consultation with Dr. Zabek.

Our dental implant procedure
Dr. Zabek will carefully plan your entire dental implant procedure.
In your initial consultation for dental implants, Dr. Zabek will explain the procedure to you in full, and answer all of your questions. The next step will be to determine whether you are a good candidate for implants.
Dr. Zabek will make sure to get a full medical history from you. In addition to a full oral examination and xrays, Dr. Zabek will photograph your mouth and jaw using our intraoral camera. He may send you to obtain a CAT scan to fully determine the depth of bone available in your jaw to support the implant posts.
Next, Dr. Zabek will take a wax impression of your teeth, and create a working model of what he expects that your smile will look like after you get the implants. You will review this model with Dr. Zabek, and decide what you would like to have your smile look like. The choice will always be up to you.
Crafting your new teeth and smile
Once you've approved the model, Dr. Zabek will begin his work on your teeth. If you have teeth that are broken down beyond repair, he may painlessly extract them. When your mouth is ready, he can arrange for an excellent oral surgeon, often located in the same Union Square building, to surgically implant the necessary posts for your implants, and carefully ensure that the surgery heals fully.
Sometimes your replacement teeth can be placed in the same visit as the posts. If not, you will be able to have temporary teeth while you heal. Dr. Zabek will make sure that you are happy with the size, shape and function of your temporaries, and then procedure to provide you with permanent teeth that you will absolutely love.
Smile with confidence!
Dr. Zabek has helped hundreds of patients reconstruct their smiles, but he is very aware that each case is unique. He will carefully design a treatment plan for you that is right for you and only you. With many options for treatment at his fingertips, he will make sure that you get the beautiful, healthy smile that you want.
Are you a candidate for Dental Implants?
: In your free consultation, Dr. Zabek will determine if you are a candidate for dental implants.
The ideal candidate for a dental implant is in good general and oral health. Adequate bone in your jaw is needed to support the implant. Some people who have lost bone in their jaw still can get implants, but first the bone must be rebuilt using special bone-grafting procedures.
People who are currently wearing partial or full dentures can replace these with dental implants, or use implants to stabilize and secure the denture, making it much more comfortable.
People who are not good candidates for dental implants include:
Young patients whose jawbones have not fully developed.
Pregnant women
People with existing medical conditions. If you can have routine dental treatment, you can generally have an implant placed. While precautions are advisable for certain conditions, patients with such chronic diseases as high blood pressure and diabetes are usually successful candidates for dental implant treatment.
Patients who take certain medications such as steroids or drugs that suppress the immune system.
In your complimentary initial examination, Dr. Zabek can determine if you are a good candidate for dental implants, and explain all of your options to you. With his extensive training and experience, he has been able to help hundreds of people obtain a healthy, beautiful smile with dental implants.

The advantages of Implant Dentistry
Dr. Zabek's dental implants work and feel exactly like natural teeth. Dental implants are generally stronger and more durable than bridges and dentures and offer a permanent solution to tooth loss.
Implants can also be used together with other dental procedures for greater effectiveness. For example, while a dental implant can be used to replace a single missing tooth, it can also be used to support a dental bridge or a set of upper or lower dentures. The use of implants to provide this kind of support will significantly improve your ability to bite down and chew normally.
Dental implants are often considered to be the most functional and durable solution to replace missing teeth.
